And Committee Chairpersons for following positions;

District Archives Chair:  Collects all District Minutes and Group fliers passing these on to the Area Archivist.  Also collects Group Histories, and takes archive material to district workshops and other District functions.

District Bridge the Gap Chair:  The Bridge the Gap Chair coordinates with the Corrections Chair and Treatment Facilities Chair to help people being released from correctional institutions or Treatment facilities to find a local A.A. member who attends meetings in the area the person being released will be living.  The Bridge the Gap Chair constructs lists of people willing to do this type of service through GSRs or by visiting groups informing them of the need for contact persons.  These contact persons are not Sponsors, but people willing to help get someone to a meeting the day of release and introduce them to people in Alcoholics Anonymous.

District Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) Chair:  This Chairperson focus is on “cooperation but not affiliation with professionals in the community such as councilors, educators, physicians, the clergy, court officials and all others professionals who may be in contact with active alcoholics.  They keep the district informed of area CPC activities and when appropriate, arrange for volunteers to join together in carrying the A.A. message at professional meetings, seminars, and more.” (The A.A. Group pamphlet, page. 33)

District Corrections Chair:  In District 18 this is a standing committee with a treasurer, literature person and volunteers taking A.A. meetings into several correctional institutions throughout the district.  The Corrections Chair is the liaison between the volunteers taking meetings into facilities and the correctional facilities.  The chair visits groups encouraging groups and individuals to take meetings into facilities. He or she will also coordinate with the Bridge the Gap Chair helping those being released to locate a meeting and contact person in the area they will be attending meetings.

District El Farolito Representative:  Our El Farolito Rep attends the District Meetings and provides the El Farolito, Area 46’s news letter with information concerning district groups and upcoming events or activities.
District Grapevine Chair:  The Grapevine Chair provides information and subscription forms to the groups so that members or groups can receive the Grapevine.  They may also use the articles, jokes or information from the Grapevine in meetings to encourage interest in our “Meeting in Print.”

District Literature Chair:  This person provides information concerning A.A. approved literature by providing catalogs and ordering information to groups.  They may also use the literature during District Meetings to help GSR’s inform groups about the wide range of A.A. approved literature.
District Public Information (PI) Chair:  As Public Information Chair, the chairperson also gathers volunteers to speak at schools, businesses, law enforcement agencies and any other organizations interested in A.A.  They also help make sure that television and radio stations get public announcements about Alcoholics Anonymous.

District Treatment Facilities Chair:  Our Treatment Facilities Chair does the same with Treatment Centers as the Corrections Chair does with jails and prisons.  He or she will coordinate with Treatment Centers and help find groups willing and individuals willing to take A.A.  meetings into these facilities.  Also, the Treatment Chair will work with the Bridge the Gap Chair to help people being released from treatment facilities to locate meetings and a contact person to take them to a meeting the day they are released.

District 18 Intergroup Representative:  This person attends the monthly Intergroup Meeting to bring information from the District to the Central Office, and to bring information from the Intergroup to District.  This is a great position to see how the Intergroup which covers the entire Albuquerque area of five Districts including 3, 11, 12, 13 and 18 which provides additional services to the Groups, such as with the 24 hour, 7 day a week live answering service, printed schedules of daily A.A. meetings, and a local place to purchase A.A. approved material.
